The experience

A week in
Santa Teresa.

Six nights of warm water, good waves, jungle adventures, slow mornings, incredible sunsets, and the kind of people you'll be happy you met.

This is more than a surf trip. It's a chance to step away from your usual routine, spend your days in the ocean, explore Santa Teresa, eat well, and experience Costa Rica with a small group of people who are here for the same reason — to surf, adventure, and enjoy la Pura Vida.

Whether you're standing on a board for the first time or chasing your next good wave, everyone is welcome. Come solo and meet new people, or bring someone along.

You bring the good vibes. We'll take care of the rest.

Your stay

Stay close
to the ocean.

A premium stay just a two-minute walk from the beach, made up of multiple studio apartments — each with its own kitchen and a private patio, plus a pool to cool off in between surf sessions.

You'll share a room with one other guest. You can choose who you'd like to stay with, or let us pair you up — we usually pair men together and women together.

You'll be right on the main road, so restaurants, stores and the beach are all within walking distance — and it's still quiet. You'll wake up to the sounds of the jungle, with monkeys and other wild animals around. The location is honestly perfect.

The majority of our guests arrive as solo travelers and leave with a group of lifelong friends.

Our surf trips attract people who are trying to do something that pushes them out of their comfort zone, want a change in life, or simply need the opportunity to slow down, reset and surround themselves with like-minded, awesome people.

Your hosts

Meet Kahu
Surf Club.

The Kahu Surf Club team will be with you throughout the week — from surf sessions and video analysis to jungle adventures, local spots, and the little moments in between.

We're a local surf club built around a genuine love for the ocean, nature, and the lifestyle that makes Costa Rica so special. We want to share that side of the country with you — beyond the usual tourist experience.

Expect raw nature, good waves, local food, spontaneous adventures, sunset hangs, and plenty of time in the water. Nothing overly planned or polished — just a real taste of Costa Rica, shared with a great group of people.

Come surf with us, slow things down, and experience Costa Rica the Kahu way.

What guests say

Don't take
our word for it.

Best surf experience ever. Carlos is the man! Good vibes in and out the water and very knowledgeable about surfing, he knows the different surf spots in Santa Teresa like the back of his hand. Nina is awesome to be around and great with the camera! Getting all the clips while you surf! Carlos and Nina provided a killer experience full of activities! Everything is very organized, they take the planning out of the equation and fill your schedule full of fun. If you are lucky enough to read this review this is your sign to book with the best in Santa Teresa! Great people! Would recommend, I'd give them 6 stars out of 5 stars if that was an option!

Absolutely loved spending a week with Kahu! I was really nervous booking a ticket out to Costa Rica on my own, but I was greeted warmly as soon as I arrived by Nina, and everything following that flowed. I met incredible people, and found that everyone was very supportive... Besides being great hosts and instructors, Nina and Carlos are such lovely people. Nina will make you feel right at home and Carlos will have you laughing and pushing you into your best wave yet while surfing! Amazing duo! Highly recommend.

I got very lucky to have had my first surf lesson in Santa Teresa with Carlos. He has answers to all your questions, encourages you to actually learn not just push you into a wave and knows all the local spots depending on the conditions. Ended up coming back two months after and bringing a group of friends who all feel the same way! I would also like to point out a HUGE important factor why I keep going back to him for lessons — professionalism. As a solo female traveller I felt safe, respected and treated well. Thank you! Nina is your go to girl in town for any content, activities and planning the trip. Everything is on time, organized and incredibly fun under her watch! Kahu Surf Club is the best in town.

Frequently
asked questions.

How do I reserve my spot?+

A $500 deposit saves your spot. After the deposit, the rest of the payment needs to be sent by October 25, 2026.

What's the cancellation and refund policy?+

We don't have a cancellation or refund policy, so please make sure you can join before placing your deposit.

How many people will be on the trip?+

We usually host up to six to eight people, so the group stays small and personal.

What's the weather like in November?+

November is a great time to be in Santa Teresa — warm days around 27°C (81°F), mild nights around 24°C (75°F), and the jungle is at its most lush and green. The ocean is around 28°C (82°F), so no wetsuit needed.

What should I bring?+

Very little — the board is provided and so is sunscreen. Just bring swimwear, light clothes, and your good vibes.

I have dietary needs — is that a problem?+

Not at all. Let us know about any dietary needs and we'll make sure you're taken care of.

Where do we stay?+

In studio apartments on the main road — restaurants, stores and the beach are all within walking distance. You'll share a room with one other guest; you can choose who you stay with, or we'll pair you up (we usually pair men together and women together).
